a kind of storefront, it’s the lottery sign that always appeals to me. i think because if i turn right here, i head towards the Cesar Chavez highway, which abuts the border. i love the Chavez highway. and i love the short blocks between Paisano and where the highway begins. It’s because you drive under the ‘free bridge’ to Juarez. And even though things are so bad these days, there is a steady stream of people walking over the bridge to go to both El Paso and Juarez. Life goes on, but sometimes it just takes a little longer to get where you want to go.
