Kinley’s Tea & Coffee House (by chacal la chaise)
This view is near the entrance to Kinley’s, and one I wanted to showcase because of its building art. Formerly a KFC, it adds a lot to the crowded and ever evolving area around North Mesa and Kirby near UTEP. Kinley’s has great lunch items, crepes (savory or sweet), frozen yogurt bar, any kind of coffee concoction or tea you could want, and sinful desserts.
It was a life saver after I walked for my BA and we needed a place to recharge. It’s generally a place to hang for anyone—students, professorial types, or medical workers. The space is filled with work spaces, leather sofas, electrical outlets, and wifi (with purchase.) The outside patio wraps around the building where people eat, meet, and plan the next revolution—a tolerant space for smokers. The flat screen TV was great for watching the final game of the World Cup, and Kinley’s occassionally hosts small local bands. Original photography and art by locals on the walls. About the same size, it is El Chuco’s answer to Austin’s Little City and bigger than the old Dolce Vita.
